Dark Art between Myth and Machine

Deus ex Machina – The Myth of the Soul and the Machine

Hello, and welcome to my dark art studio.
I’m Sarah Rabenhertz — formerly known as Auriel Phoenix — a German dark artist creating biomechanical mythologies that merge fantasy, horror, and sci-fi art.

My work explores the fragile connection between soul and the machine, between divinity, technology and the void. Through ink, acrylic paint, charcoal, and digital media, I build worlds where machines dream, angels rust, and humanity redefines its gods.

I’m drawn to ink and digital art for their precision and freedom to experiment, yet I also love the physicality of acrylic on canvas — the texture, the weight, the imperfect truth of paint.
Working across different media lets me view my subjects from new angles and keeps my style evolving.

At the core of my art lies the nexus of human and machine, the tension where emotion meets metal.
My dark, biomechanical artworks are semi-realistic with surreal and comic influences, shaped by my love of manga and comic artwork. They blend cyberpunk, dark fantasy, and mythology — often layered with subtle eroticism, gothic atmospheres, and dystopian imagery.

You’ll find fallen angels, mythic hybrids, mechanical deities, monsters, and circuitry interwoven into my pieces — fragments of a grim, futuristic mythology I call the Technocalypse.

Explore my gallery to discover this universe — and enter the space where the soul meets the machine.
